Getting Around Aylesbury

Aylesbury is well connected by rail, road and bus, both within the town and across the Vale. This guide covers the main ways to get around. For local journeys you can also browse taxis and private hire and car hire in the directory.

By train

Aylesbury station and Aylesbury Vale Parkway are served by Chiltern Railways, with direct trains to London Marylebone and connections across the line. The Parkway station, on the northern edge of town, has parking and is aimed at drivers joining the train for the commute.

By road

The A41 links Aylesbury towards Tring, Hemel Hempstead and the M25 in one direction and Bicester and the M40 in the other. The A413 runs south to Wendover and High Wycombe and north towards Buckingham and Milton Keynes, while the A418 heads to Leighton Buzzard and Thame. Up-to-date information on roadworks, parking and travel is published by Buckinghamshire Council.

Buses and getting about town

Local bus routes connect the town centre with Aylesbury’s neighbourhoods and nearby villages. The compact centre is walkable, and the canal towpath and quieter routes are useful for cycling.

Parking

The town centre has several car parks, including those serving the Friars Square shopping centre, along with on-street and longer-stay options. Check current charges and locations before you travel.
